My name is Lauren Shanahan, and currently I’m a Research Associate in a neurology lab in Massachusetts. My background is in molecular biology and microbiology, but I’m constantly trying to learn and understand more and more about all sorts of topics in different areas of the science’s. As I continue my career in this field, I’ve come to find a lack of clear communication between people in the scientific field and people outside of it. I think this lack of communication contributes to a lot of misunderstanding. I believe clear and effective communication of topics in science is essential for educated decision making and an overall safe and healthy world. I started this site to try to break down some of the walls that exist between my field and everyone else, and explain topics in an understandable format so that we can all be on the same page. I also just love talking about science and personally want to continue to explore and understand the way this world words. I want to try to touch on a wide variety of topics that people come across in their every day lives. In some cases, I’ll be learning along with you, and I’ll bring facts to the table and explain them in a detail we can all understand. I hope that this helps make us all a little more educated, interested and involved in things that are important to our everyday lives!
